Job summary

Rolls-Royce Power Systems in Heybridge is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the NautIQ Solutions team. You will work with multiple engineering disciplines to design Integrated Platform Management Systems and marine automation components.

The role focuses on translating high-level requirements into validated designs, interfacing with customers and partners, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent competence in electrical engineering.
• 3+ years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Experience with naval or marine automation and control systems.
• Experience across multiple project lifecycle stages.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Review and translate high level automation requirements into validated designs.
• Interface with customers and partners to elicit and validate stakeholder needs.
• Design and implement automation to meet requirements and standards.
• Allocate automation requirements to test vehicles in the verification plan.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as FDS, CMD, and test specs.
• Contribute to System Safety activities (FMEA, FMECA, risk analysis).
• Define interfaces between IPMS and 3rd party systems.
• Set the systems engineering and verification approach for programmes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to understand component capabilities.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and training as required.
