Job summary

Civil Works Alliance is seeking a Marine Sub Agent to lead a multi-disciplinary team within the Marine and Tunnels Section as part of Sizewell C. You will drive safety, quality, and productivity across complex civil works, coordinating Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers and Foremen.

The role emphasises strong leadership, communication, and a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement on a major energy project in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers & Foremen
• Set and monitor HSE targets and KPI’s, and review safety performance
• Oversee resource allocation and training for the Works Section
• Ensure quality systems are applied and handover documentation is prepared
• Manage productivity through KPI tracking, programme analysis and progress reporting
• Support cost planning, procurement oversight and risk management

Marine Sub Agent Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.

What will you do?

The purpose of the role is to provide management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers & Foremen.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
• Motivate section team and manage performance; monitor the competency of team members and undertake training/ coaching as appropriate

Health Safety & Environmental

• Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance
• Carries out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan
• Assists Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering / review.
• Appraises improvement options and actions / instigates as appropriate
• Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register
• Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System
• Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team

Engineering Control

• Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability
• Identifies and arranges training as required

Quality

• Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project objectives and monitors performance
• Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings
• Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate
• Implements systems and processes to manage the quality of the constructive works
• Involved in working groups focused on Improvement Areas
• Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section

Productivity

• Sets targets and KPI’s in line with key outputs and monitors performance, reporting Section Progress
• Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme
• Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI’s
• Ensures production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme
• Chairs prescribed Short Interval Control section meetings to review performance on site

Commercial

• Sets targets and KPI’s in line with budget forecast
• Attends and provides reports for weekly project meetings and identifies improvement areas and allocates / implements appropriate actions to team members
• Involved in the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects / preferred attendances
• Produces the risk schedule for section, reviews and updates
• Prepares a cost plan and manages cost value
