Job summary

A leading global Defence company is seeking a Marine Engineering Training Instructor in Scotland. The successful candidate will deliver classroom and simulator-based training for the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service, contributing their knowledge of nuclear propulsion and marine engineering. This full-time position requires recent hands-on experience in the field and the ability to collaborate on course design. Attractive benefits include pension and enhanced leave allowance.

Qualifications

  • Category A or B Watchkeeping Qualification from Royal Navy Submarine Service.
  • Up-to-date technical skills relevant to nuclear propulsion and marine engineering.
  • Recent hands-on experience in this field with up-to-date technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver training to Nuclear Propulsion Plant Operators and Marine Engineering Equipment Maintainers.
  • Collaborate with training designers for courseware updates.
  • Evaluate technical data and course content as a subject matter expert.
  • Deliver safety training to students outside of the ACTS programme.
  • Review and revise training materials routinely.

Skills

Knowledge of Naval Nuclear Steam Raising Plant operation
Hands-on experience in Marine Engineering

Marine Engineering Training Instructor

Salary: DOE, permanent position (open to part‑time). Location: Scotland. Pension & enhanced leave allowance available.

As a Marine Engineering Training Instructor, you’ll be at the heart of delivering world‑class engineering training to the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service. This is a unique opportunity to share your specialist knowledge of nuclear propulsion and marine engineering systems with the next generation of engineers, while contributing to national defence and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver classroom and simulator‑based training to Nuclear Propulsion Plant Operators and Marine Engineering Equipment Maintainers.
  • Collaborate with training designers to update courseware in line with technical changes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to evaluate technical data and course content.
  • Deliver additional safety training (e.g., Confined Space, Working at Height) to students outside the ACTS programme.
  • Support the routine review and revision of training materials.
Required experience
  • Royal Navy Submarine Service: Category A or B Watchkeeping Qualification. Comprehensive knowledge of Naval Nuclear Steam Raising Plant operation.
  • Recent hands‑on experience in this field with up‑to‑date technical skills.
