Job summary

Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) seeks a hands-on Electronics Technician for the Electronics Repair Centre in Poole. You will install, maintain and repair marine electronic equipment, perform on-board maintenance and assist with sea trials, fault diagnosis and testing using test gear and drawings.

You will build and test electrical and electronic assemblies for lifeboats, calibrate equipment, and work to safety and quality standards in a well-equipped workshop environment.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds or NVQ level 3/BTEC qualifications, time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Experience in electronics within the marine environment is desirable.
• Able to read engineering drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair marine electronic equipment and systems on lifeboats and in the ERC.
• Carry out on-board planned maintenance and participate in sea trials.
• Diagnose faults using test equipment and engineering drawings, complete repairs and test.
• Produce and test electrical/electronic assemblies and cable/wiring for new builds and stock.
• Software installations, equipment calibrations and bench repair activities.
