Job summary

A leading marine brokerage firm is seeking a Marine Broker Backup to support the lead Broker while also stepping into the broker role during busy periods. This hybrid position requires at least two days in the London office. Candidates should have experience in Marine Lines of Business and strong client-facing skills. The role offers a pathway to becoming a full-time Broker and an opportunity to develop within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experienced in any of the Marine Lines of Business.
  • Desire to be client facing when acting as the lead broker.
  • Ability to work in the London office at least 2 days/week.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead broker when required.
  • Work directly with the Underwriters.
  • Assist in reviewing client renewal information.
  • Draft slips and endorsements.
  • Initiate the contract drafting process.
  • Support brokers in compliance and regulation.
  • Track the placement status of assigned accounts.
  • Complete documentation with clients and reinsurers.

Overview

Job Title: Marine Broker Backup

Location: London/Hybrid (Typically 3 days in the office)

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

As a Broker Backup, you will have the opportunity to not only support the lead Broker delivering proactive, high-value assistance, but also play the position of Broker when the lead broker is not available during busy periods. This is a great stepping stone to becoming a full time Broker.

Requirements
  • Experienced in any of the Marine LOBs - Cargo, H&M, P&T, Liabilities, Yachts etc…
  • Desire to be client facing working as the lead broker when required
  • Ability to work in the London office at least 2 days / week
Main Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead broker when required.
  • Work directly with the Underwriters.
  • Assist in reviewing client renewal information.
  • Draft slips and endorsements.
  • Initiate the contract drafting process, including updates and the production of final contract documentation.
  • Support brokers in preparing submissions, compliance and regulation etc.
  • Track the placement status of assigned accounts and update information accordingly.
  • Dealing with clients and reinsurers directly, completing all documentation
  • Respond to client requests for information, including reinsurer details, financial reports, and industry issues.
