Job description
Overview

Join the paw-some team at Rudie's Kitchen, part of Butternut Box, in Blyth, Doncaster. This is a full-time permanent contract with a rolling average of 41 hours per week, on a shift rotation with a mix of days and nights and some weekend work. Day shifts are 7am to 7pm and night shifts are 7pm to 7am. Some schedules include 4 on, 4 off or 5 on, 5 off patterns as part of the ongoing shift rotation.

Role aliases you may see include Machine Operator, Machine Technician, or Manufacturing Technician, but in Butternut we refer to this as a Skilled Operator.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a safe way following all appropriate safety procedures and wear protective equipment correctly at all times
  • Drive line performance and diagnose operational issues on the production lines
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet specifications
  • Perform machine/equipment hygiene and changeovers
  • Prepare ingredients for production and mix recipes
  • Operate production line equipment to the agreed operational settings
  • Support general tasks such as waste processing and order packing
  • Work to relevant standards and Key Performance Indicators
  • Attend daily reviews and participate in online performance reviews
  • Maintain general facility hygiene including floors, walls, conveyors, and keep the workspace clean as you go
  • Engage in a safe working environment and raise any concerns promptly
Qualifications
  • Previous machine operative experience in a food manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty and high-speed machinery
  • Excellent knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations
  • Working level of English (spoken and reading)
  • Numerate and able to understand and work with numbers
  • Comfortable working in a chilled environment
  • Comfortable working with raw proteins (lamb, pork, turkey, chicken)
