Overview
SHIFT SUPERVISOR – Industrial – FMCG based. Contract is straight to permanent and employed by our client, with all applicants needed to be able to commute.
Shift: Monday – Thursday 07:00-19:00 initially, then falling into a shift pattern. Overtime available
Annual Salary Range: £34,000 - £38,000.

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the shift team, ensuring all personnel adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies at all times.
- Organise and allocate daily tasks to team members to meet production targets and operational deadlines.
- Monitor site operations including sorting, processing, loading, and unloading of goods and material within the production and process areas to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and safety toolbox talks to communicate key priorities and reinforce safety standards.
- Oversee equipment operation and maintenance activities during the shift, coordinating with maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
- Ensure accurate documentation of materials processed, shift reports, and incident logs are completed promptly and accurately.
Essential Skills
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to recycling and waste management.
- Excellent organizational skills to effectively plan and allocate shift tasks and manage workflow.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, with team members and management.
- Experience in monitoring and improving operational processes to meet performance targets and KPIs.
- Competence in incident reporting, documentation, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to operational challenges or emergencies.
- Forklift license, desirable.
Desirable Experience
- Certification or training in health and safety, such as IOSH Managing Safely desired but not essential.
- Knowledge of MHE systems (FLT, Cherry Pickers) desired but not essential.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance standards and reporting requirements.
Education
- GCSE or equivalent (required)
Experience
- Leadership: 3 years (preferred)
- Alternating nights/days shift: 1 year (preferred)
License/Certification
- Forklift License (preferred)
