Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Birmingham is hiring a Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer (SQME) to ensure supplier-provided materials and processes meet quality and regulatory requirements. You will work with manufacturing, engineering, procurement and quality teams to maintain product quality, reduce defects, and improve supplier process capability.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing processes include Machining, Casting and Forging.
• Experience with audits, corrective actions, APQP/PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and 8D.
• Knowledge of GD&T and quality inspection methods.
• Awareness of aerospace quality standards (AS9100/AS13100) is advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

The role

A Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer (SQME) is responsible for ensuring that supplier-provided materials, components, and manufacturing processes meet quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities:

• Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement across quality and manufacturing processes.
• Conduct supplier audits to verify compliance with quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve supplier quality issues in a timely and effective manner.
• Monitor supplier performance using quality metrics, defect trends, and delivery performance indicators.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring defects and improve process stability.
• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and quality teams to maintain product quality.
• Support defect reduction initiatives and improve supplier process capability.
• Promote operational excellence across the supply chain through proactive supplier engagement.

Essential skills/knowledge/experience: Manufacturing process - Machining, Casting, forging

• Familiar with special processes such as.
• o Anodizing, Plating and Painting
• o Fluorescents penetrant inspection
• o Magnetic particles inspection
• Quality and Inspection Knowledge
• Should we be aware of AS9100, AS13100.
• Good Knowledge of Quality tools APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and 8D.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Effective Communication and presentation skills
• Negotiation with Suppliers and Managing stakeholders
