Job summary

Reed in Folkestone, Kent is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to oversee sourcing of materials, supplier relationships, and stock management for a busy manufacturing operation. The role reports to the Supply Chain / Operations team and focuses on timely delivery, cost efficiency, and accurate record-keeping.

The ideal candidate will bring manufacturing procurement experience, strong negotiation and IT skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a Procurement, Purchasing, or Supply Chain role.
• Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
• CIPS qualification or studying towards CIPS (desirable).
• Experience with stock control and inventory management (desirable).
• Knowledge of manufacturing supply chains and procurement best practices (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Managing the procurement of raw materials, components, and consumables.
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Raising and processing purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
• Negotiating pricing, lead times, and supplier contracts.
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating stock replenishment.
• Working closely with production, warehouse, and planning teams.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
• Resolving supplier issues and delivery discrepancies.
• Producing procurement reports and maintaining accurate records.
