We are working exclusively with a specialist European packaging group seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead its UK manufacturing site based in Hyde, Cheshire.

This is a key leadership role within a global business that is continuing to expand its UK presence. The position requires an individual with proven experience in 3-piece can making who can ensure the smooth running, quality, and growth of production operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production lines are set up to deliver product to the highest quality and safety standards.
• Oversee and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and improve quality management.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, maintaining robust audit and reporting processes.
• Work closely with colleagues across sales, supply chain, and senior management to ensure customer requirements are met seamlessly.
• Act as the site lead for customer visits, ensuring confidence in product quality and operational standards.

Candidate Profile

• Essential: Proven supervisory or management experience in a 3-piece can making business.
• Technical knowledge of can making processes (welding, flanging, seaming, beading, testing).
• Strong understanding of quality systems and H&S requirements within manufacturing.
• Ideally holds a technical qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
• A hands-on, detail-oriented leader who can balance operational demands with strategic improvement.

Working Hours

Permanent, Monday to Friday: 07:00–15:00. Although a certain amount of flexibility will be required.
