Job summary

Mytos is seeking a Manufacturing Lead to own how we make our systems and consumables, ensuring reliable, fast, scalable production to meet customer and regulator standards.

You'll work directly with the Head of Engineering and collaborate with leadership, sales, finance and planning to align manufacturing with an ambitious roadmap and lead a growing team on site.

Qualifications

  • Track record of building or scaling manufacturing functions in a fast-moving hardware or regulated environment.
  • Deep hands-on manufacturing engineering ability: facility design, process development/scale-up, IQ/OQ/PQ qualifications, and floor-level root-cause problem solving.
  • Strong grasp of manufacturing economics: COGS ownership and cost modelling.
  • GMP and regulatory knowledge (ISO 13485) or ability to get up to speed quickly.
  • Experience managing suppliers/contract manufacturers: qualification, audits, quality agreements, scalable outcomes.
  • Fluency with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision making (SPC/DOE/yield analysis).

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve manufacture of automation systems and consumables, increasing volume while improving yield and reducing cost/lead time.
  • Drive down COGS, model unit economics, and develop large capex/opex strategies.

Job description

About Us

You rarely get the chance to change an entire industry. But that's the position we find ourselves in. Join us, and you'll help scale cures to patients that need them sooner.

We've developed fully-automated cell manufacturing sites, powered by custom robotics - to scale treatments to millions of patients. Last year, patients were cured of diseases like Parkinson's and vision loss using stem-cell derived cells - but today these Regenerative Medicines are produced by hand, meaning they're too expensive and hard to scale.

With our automated manufacturing sites, these therapies can now be scaled globally at low cost. We've announced partnerships across multiple therapies so far ranging from Parkinson's, to hearing loss, to bone repair - and raised $24m to expand into the market faster, and accelerate our development! Within the next 12 months, neurons grown on our machines will be going into Parkinson's patient brains.

We've assembled a world-class team to take on this challenge, with ex-Dyson engineers and Nature-published scientists working hand-in-hand. Mytos is backed by Y Combinator, the most successful startup program in the world which produced companies such as AirBnb, Dropbox, and Ginkgo Bioworks.

The Role

We're looking for a Manufacturing Lead to own how we make our Systems & Consumables - and to make sure we can do it reliably, quickly, at scale, to the standard our customers and regulators require. Our product offering intersects two different tech stacks: electromechanical automation systems packed with custom robotics, and sterile fluidic plastic consumables made to GMP standards. You'll own both.

This is a foundational, hands-on lead role. You'll contribute to the strategic direction for manufacturing while staying close enough to the floor to fix problems yourself when it matters. You'll be working directly with the Head of Engineering and with leadership, sales, finance, and planning to make sure manufacturing keeps pace with an ambitious commercial roadmap. You'll lead and grow the team that builds everything we ship.

We want someone who has built or scaled a manufacturing function before and is ready to do it again, faster. Experience across both electromechanical assembly and sterile / GMP plastics manufacturing is a strong differentiator.

What you'll be doing
  • Own and continuously improve manufacture of our automation systems/consumables - growing volume while driving up yield/quality and driving down cost/lead time.
  • Track and actively drive down COGS, model unit economics, develop and implement large capex/opex strategies.
  • Bring new products into stable manufacture smoothly and on schedule.
  • Lead planning, build out & setup of greenfield manufacturing facilities.
  • Recruit, line-manage and develop the manufacturing team so each person grows in scope, skill, and independence.
What you'll need
  • A track record of building or scaling manufacturing functions, ideally in a fast-moving hardware, lab automation, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Deep hands-on manufacturing engineering ability - facility design, process development / scale-up, equipment and process qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and root-cause problem solving on the floor.
  • Strong grasp of manufacturing economics: COGS ownership, unit-cost modelling, capex and make-vs-buy decision-making.
  • GMP and regulatory knowledge (ISO 13485, cleanroom manufacturing) - or the demonstrated ability to get up to speed fast.
  • Experience managing suppliers and contract manufacturers: qualification, audits, quality agreements, and negotiating strong scalable outcomes for the business.
  • Fluency with ERP/MRP systems for manufacturing and capacity planning, and comfort making data-driven decisions (SPC, DOE, yield analysis, COPQ).
  • Personality who leads a team while staying technical, and who builds capability rather than dependency.
  • Experience across both electromechanical assembly and sterile / GMP plastics manufacturing is a strong plus.

Salary and Benefits
  • Competitive salary with stock options
  • Lunch covered daily
  • 24 days holiday (excluding bank holidays)
  • Pension
  • Awesome colleagues and an office in the Imperial College innovation hub in White City, where you'll be based

We're building a team that enjoys moving fast, strives for continuous improvement through learning from mistakes, and is passionate about work that contributes to solving real world problems. Join us if you want a fast-paced environment, where you're empowered to make decisions and do the best work of your career.
