Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Support Technician
Salary: starting £28,900 and rising to £30,400 when role triggers are met
Career Development: You’ll have a structured development plan with regular pay increases as you complete training and build new skills. Your progression is performance-driven, and within 2–3 years you could advance to the next grade, starting at £35,200 and rising to £39,000.
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Contracts: Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Hours: Please make sure you can commit to the working hours before applying:
Shift 1: Mon–Thurs 05:30–14:30, Fri 05:30–09:00
Shift 2: Mon–Thurs 06:00–15:00, Fri 06:00–09:30
Shift 3: Mon–Thurs 06:30–15:30, Fri 06:30–10:00

The Opportunity

Are you someone who is looking to join a team that is leading change and innovation? We are looking for a proactive Manufacturing Engineering Support Technician who is ready to join our world class manufacturing facility. You will be part of a highly focused team of Engineers and Technicians within the Manufacturing Engineering department whose work leads the implementation of the latest manufacturing technologies and introducing the latest machines.

What You Will Do
  • Driving manufacturing best practices into the production environment.
  • Complete root cause analysis for quality & inefficiency improvements to implement robust process containment measures.
  • Facilitate the development of manufacturing process solutions work with functional teams, using a range of tool e.g. process flows, PFMEA’s, control plans. Promote lean and quality as a focus within the business.
  • CAD software utilisation; Design of jigs, fixtures, updating floorplans and completing virtual builds.
  • Adhere to the company's Health and Safety policy and safe working practices.
  • Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork, & Sustainability.

What You May Have
  • Good understanding of building and construction equipment Assembly, Test or Finish processes and production
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety Awareness and Controls Safety.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter would be advantageous.
  • Experience of quality concern resolution with tools such as 8D, 5why, fishbone diagrams and other appropriate quality tools
