A leading aerospace company in Cheltenham is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Development Leader to ensure successful delivery of Manufacturing Process programs in accordance with aerospace regulations. The ideal candidate has a background in Electromechanical Manufacturing and Quality Engineering, with strong leadership and communication skills. This position will require coordination of multiple development projects and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
The Manufacturing Engineering Development Leader role is a fundamental part of the 3Ps" Organisational strategy and sits within our Power Manufacturing Engineering team, being accountable for ensuring Manufacturing Process & NPI Programs are delivered into production successfully, and in accordance with strict aerospace regulations.
The Power Manufacturing Engineering Team consists of both Military and Civil Power portfolios, with an emerging Business Jet portfolio. This role will initially be scoped around two development/NPI programs: one with a long-established commercial customer, and one with a new business jet customer. This is a role with high change, particularly when the NPI programs transfer into rate production, so the candidate should be very comfortable working within a dynamic scope.
The Leader will, ultimately, ensure that the Manufacturing Engineering team have clearly defined standards (SOPs) and operate in accordance with aerospace standards. The leader will deliver strategies in accordance with AS9100 regulations, notably within the fields of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), First Article Inspection (FAI), Process/Product Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA), among others.
This is a technical role, with alignment to the GE Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering Controlled Title Holder (CTH) pathway, and a people‑leader role. The development team is a mix of permanent and contractor Manufacturing Engineers, with both central and program‑funded roles, meaning the size of the team can fluctuate between 3‑10 Manufacturing Engineers.
