Job summary

A leading aerospace and defense company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Tooling Engineer to join their Product Specific Tooling Team focusing on submarines. This role involves providing bespoke tooling and fixturing, working closely with stakeholders to meet design requirements. Candidates should have a degree in mechanical engineering or similar and demonstrate experience in designing complex engineered solutions. Knowledge of Teamcenter and NX is beneficial. This is a full-time position based in Derby/Raynesway.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Tooling and Fixturing design for component manufacture and assembly (desirable).
  • Track record of focusing on delivery of complex mechanically engineered solutions against specific customer requirements.
  • Technical understanding of process design and mechanical design.

  • Take the journey through the full design process from requirements capture to final design stages.
  • Prepare the technical documentation such as design specifications and procurement specifications.
  • Drive the technical programme to deliver the required outputs on time to agreed cost and quality.

Job Title : Manufacturing Engineer Tooling Engineer - Submarines

Working Pattern : 37 hours

Working location : Derby / Raynesway

An exciting opportunity for a Tooling Design Engineer role in the Product Specific Tooling Team has arisen within the New Build and Components Business in Nuclear (Submarines).

In this role you will work to provide bespoke tooling and fixturing in support of component manufacture and this roll you will be interacting with the shop floor to ensure the design meets with their requirements not only at concept stage but post manufacture ensuring all requirements have been achieved.

Responsibilities
  • Take the journey through the full design process from requirements capture through to concept development and final design stages.
  • Lead the generation of detailed requirements with the customer and identified key stakeholders.
  • Prepare the technical documentation such as design specifications, justifications and reports as well as procurement specifications.
  • Ensure the required design process is followed both internally and externally.
  • Drive the technical programme to deliver the required outputs on time to agreed cost and quality.

Qualifications
  • Degree in mechanical engineering or similar relevant discipline although experience and capability will be taken into consideration.
  • Track record of focusing on delivery of complex mechanically engineered solutions against specific customer requirements to time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Technical understanding of process design, mechanical design and substantiation, engineering process, governance, relevant regulations, codes and standards.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering principles including design for manufacture, ALARP, design for assembly and maintenance, concurrent engineering, health and safety, environmental awareness and lessons learnt.
  • Experience of presenting solutions to appropriate stakeholders in gated design reviews demonstrating that all key requirements have been satisfactorily addressed.
  • Experience of Tooling and Fixturing design for component manufacture and assembly (desirable).
  • Experience in the use of Teamcenter and NX.
