Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Salary: £45,300

Location: Stockton

Contract: Full time & fixed term contract (12 months)

The Opportunity

As a Manufacturing Engineer Technician, you will provide day to day technical support for value streams with Building Construction Products. You will assist in the update, development & documentation of assembly processes for optimum safety & efficiency in line with Caterpillar Production System guiding principles, across the product range.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead investigations and implement improvement actions identified through Continuous Improvement (CI) cards, while managing Organisational Change (MOC) processes.
  • Drive engineering changes on the shop floor.
  • Conduct risk assessments and champion robust process changes for high‑energy hazards.
  • Create, maintain, and update process documentation.
  • Deliver proactive process improvements and root cause investigations using Lean tools.
  • Oversee the development of new or replacement tooling, including templates, gauges, jigs and fixtures.

What You Can Demonstrate:
  • Computer Literate: Create, edit and manage documents, spreadsheets and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to support process documentation and reporting.
  • Technical & Design: Use CAD software (AutoCAD, CREO or similar) to design, update and maintain tooling such as templates, gauges, jigs and fixtures.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience coaching and supporting production teams to deliver improvements.
  • Organisation & Process Improvement: Able to stay organised and manage tasks independently, while looking for ways to make things run more smoothly.
What You May Have:
  • Risk Assessment knowledge (British Safety Council Level 2): To ensure a safe working environment and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • HNC‑level understanding of manufacturing principles: To apply sound technical knowledge in day‑to‑day operations and problem‑solving.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to create and maintain Standard Work and process documentation to support consistency, quality and clear communication across teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lean methodology knowledge (Green Belt level or equivalent) to identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements for better productivity.
