Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location

Paignton, Devon - Full-time on-site (non-negotiable) with circa 4 weeks per year and/or international travel

The Candidate

You will be a qualified engineer with a background in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing disciplines. You are passionate about process improvement, lean manufacturing, and driving excellence in production. You enjoy working cross-functionally and are confident in leading initiatives from concept to full-scale manufacturing.

The Role

You will lead the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for new and existing products. This includes defining SOPs, driving DfM/DfT reviews, supporting NPI, and collaborating with R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.

Key Duties
  • Develop scalable, repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Define SOPs, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Drive DfM and DfT reviews with product teams.
  • Lead CAPA investigations and implement improvements.
  • Oversee pilot builds and transition to full-scale production.
  • Define tooling, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners.
Other Responsibilities
  • Champion Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Use data to drive decisions and evaluate improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with QEHS and ISO standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff.
  • Occasional UK/international travel. (max 4 weeks/year)
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proven track record in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
Desirable
  • Experience in NPI and cross-functional project leadership.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and compliance standards.
