Overview
An exciting opportunity to join one of Midland's premium engineering and manufacturing businesses. They are a genuine market leader in their field and are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team to affect and develop manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the requirements of AS9100 quality system and the effect on manufacturing solutions.
- Define the correct manufacturing process for a variety of machined components using knowledge and experience.
- Identify correct material specification, heat treatment and testing requirements to ensure components meet customer requirements.
- Liaise with sales to highlight missing order information early to ensure on-time delivery.
- Maximise profitability by improving planned routing wherever possible and minimising waste of materials, transportation and labour.
- Maintain a professional but friendly working relationship with all suppliers and colleagues within the Group.
- Liaise with all departments to expedite the intended workflow and help resolve quality and logistical issues.
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Knowledge of international material standards (ASTM / ISO / BS).
- Knowledge of international dimensional standards (ISO / DIN / BS).
- CAD software knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the practical application of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement techniques, including 5S, 8 Wastes, 7 Quality tools, TPM and Statistical Process Capability.
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative and influence others with a positive "can do" attitude.
- Ability to work at pace in a multi-project environment.
- Good communicator at all levels.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor).
- Nuclear sector knowledge.
- Defence sector knowledge.
- Fastener knowledge including manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, Hot Forging, Heat Treatment, Mechanical Testing, NDT testing, plating finishes.
- Planning engineering experience.
- Understanding of materials and specs.
