Position Overview

Maxwell Consultancy is partnering with a global engineering business to fill a Permanent, full‑time Manufacturing Engineer in a state‑of‑the‑art workshop in Glasgow. The role works day shift Monday to Friday, with an early finish.

The company is a market leader across Renewables, Oil & Gas and Water.

Responsibilities
  • Creation of new and modification of existing CNC programs using Siemens, Mazak and Heidenhain.
  • Preparing, updating and maintaining manufacturing methods, documentation, tooling and setup details required for product manufacture.
  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Creating and maintaining robust and lean manufacturing processes (CNC and manual) that satisfy product and process quality, meet delivery schedules and support customer satisfaction and business results.
  • Provide daily/weekly support for manufacturing processes, program creation, issue resolution and support other disciplines.
  • Provide ongoing support to the machine shop and processes to ensure economic manufacturing at the correct quality standard.
  • Work with suppliers on all matters relating to the manufacturing process.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities, analyse production processes and use problem‑solving methodology to identify improvement areas.
  • Create process specifications and material purchase specifications.
  • Lead and own control of manufacturing consumables, tooling and lubrication.
  • Discuss and develop processes for rectification or additional work of assemblies and parts due to production changes.
  • Support non‑conformance issues and improvements.
  • Assist with the cost of poor quality KPIs and actions.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to all manufacturing staff.
  • Be available for further training when required.
  • Work with managers and cell leaders to implement company policies and goals.
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
Education & Experience
  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering with proven experience in a similar role covering the above responsibilities.
  • Understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques, detailed knowledge of CNC and manual machining processes in milling and turning.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of SAP or other MRP systems; proficiency in Excel and Word is beneficial.
