Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality products are produced efficiently and cost-effectively. The position offers the opportunity to work across multiple departments, including Operations, Quality, and Customer teams, while contributing to new product development, process improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Development & Improvement: Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes for new and existing components. Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimise lead times.
- Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Apply GD&T, RCCA, and 8D methodologies to resolve production issues, improve process flow, and ensure product quality.
- Supporting Quotations: Provide technical input for job quotations, including manufacturing capabilities, costs, and methods.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining quality and cost standards. Present updates to the management team as needed.
- Process & Equipment Improvement: Recommend enhancements to manufacturing equipment and processes, including ROI analysis and collaboration with finance when required.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to provide technical input for internal reviews and customer engagements.
- Tooling & Workholding: Define tooling requirements during product introduction and assist with workholding design for various processes.
- ERP Management: Maintain product structures in ERP systems (BOMs, routings) and liaise with sub-contractors on procurement specifications.
Key Qualifications
- Degree, HNC, or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of driving continuous improvement.
- CNC programming experience (Turning, Boring, Milling, ideally 5‑axis Mill/Turn).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly with aluminium, titanium, and Inconel (Milling, Turning, Boring, EDM, Wire cutting).
- Proficiency with Solid Edge, Edge Cam, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Fanuc / Siemens controls for Turning and Boring, and Heidenhain / Siemens controls for Milling.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills
- Experience across both CNC Turning/Vertical Turning and CNC Milling.
- Familiarity with SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People) methodologies.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on process improvement and driving change.
