TXM Recruit are actively recruiting for 5 x manufacturing engineers on a contract basis for our customer based in Northern Ireland.
Position: 5 x Manufacturing Engineer - commercial vehicles
Location: Ballymena, Northern Ireland
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Manufacturing Manager
Employment Type: Full time - 38 hours per week - 42.5 hours per week
Hourly Rate: £Competitive hourly rate - VIA Umbrella company (INSIDE IR35).
Start Date: ASAP
Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 08.15am - 17.00pm / Friday 08.00 - 13.00pm.
Contract Duration: 6 months +
Purpose of Post
The specification of processes, methods, equipment and tooling to improve manufacturing safety, quality, velocity & cost.
To define, develop & verify manufacturing capabilities.
To identify new concepts, processes, materials and technology to enhance production's efficiency and profitability and environmental footprint.
Key Tasks
- Responsible for exposing waste within the manufacturing process and developing plans to reduce/eliminate it to improve the cost competitiveness of the business.
- Support Operational management in the implementation of lean tools and techniques within the manufacturing and support functions.
- Responsible for the co-ordination of new design concepts through to full production.
- Improve design for manufacture by taking ownership/contributing towards the product based manufacturing issue logs.
- To coordinate the internal flow and introduction of new product lines into manufacture, focusing on impact changes to manpower, materials, equipment and factory layout to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Responsible for workshop layouts and efficiency / effectiveness.
- Responsible for product support on a daily basis, utilising problem‑solving techniques.
- Produce build drawings, workshop procedures and record modifications/improvements during development builds where appropriate.
- Responsible for designing and overseeing the build of jigs, templates, tooling and fixtures to improve manufacturing.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes are safe and capable of achieving and maintaining the required quality standards.
- Determine, improve and sustain workflows that realise seamless manufacture of goods.
General
- Undertake all duties in line with General Data Protection and maintain utmost level of confidentiality.

Personnel Specification
- Heavy machinery manufacturing background
- Vehicle manufacturing background
- Automotive manufacturing background
- Minimum of 7 years' experience
- Industrial Engineering time study competency
- Strong background in: Lean manufacturing / Process optimisation
- Production line efficiency / Root cause analysis
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and build documentation.
- Experience with WMPs/SWPs, ISO 9001 standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comfortable working across multiple departments, including campaign work and retrofits.
- Able to work independently and deliver results under time pressure.
- Experience in an engineering environment
- Experience in problem solving techniques on a production line
- Experience in leading projects
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft office and excel
- 3D Modelling experience
- SAGE OR IFS Experience (MRP)
- Understanding of engineering drawings
- Knowledge of tooling and jigging
- Knowledge of new factory set up
Qualifications
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline or above
