Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Exeter, United Kingdom, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team. The role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead and focuses on supporting CNC, EDM, Waterjet and automated operations on site.

You will develop and verify machine programs, create tooling and fixtures, and drive automation initiatives while contributing to cost reductions and capital project justifications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience within an engineering environment.
  • Proficient in CNC Milling, CAM an advantage (Heidenhain Controls).
  • Proficient in CAD, Siemens NX an advantage.
  • Good understanding of tooling and fixture design.
  • Experience trouble-shooting mechanical systems (pneumatics, tooling, measurement feedback systems).
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of automation systems.
  • High level of computer literacy (Word/Excel/Project).
  • Good judgment and decision making.
  • Communication and team working skills.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered with a degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. A relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous.
  • Advantageous Experience: CMM Programming experience (Renishaw Modus).
  • Robot programming experience, Yaskawa or Fanuc an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Support the identification and implementation of new manufacturing technology

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead.

This position will be responsible for.

Providing support for manufacturing processes on site inc. CNC, EDM, Waterjet and Automated operations

Providing support for manufacturing to improve existing processes

  • Qualifying new products on existing manufacturing equipment, internally and with the customer

Developing automated manufacturing processes

Main Responsibilities:

Create, verify, and release programs for CNC, EDM & Waterjet Machines

Create, verify, and release robot programs for automated cells

Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes

  • Develop and implement new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation
  • Support justification of capital funding requests
