Job description

PE Global is recruiting for a Manufacturing Controls Engineer with a leading multinational manufacturer of construction and mining equipment based in Desford.

Initial 18‑month contract – Afternoon shift: Mon‑Wed 16:30‑02:30, Thu 16:30‑02:00. Pay: £24.22ph PAYE or £33.17ph Umbrella.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for automation and robotics, and bring them to implementation.
  • Effectively use Siemens PLC/HMI software to aid maintenance teams in diagnosing production issues.
  • Effectively use Siemens/Mitsubishi PLC software to uplift and standardise legacy system assets.
  • Proactively identify business opportunities, assess overall impact and justify to senior stakeholders for capital investment.
  • Project management – full scope, development, budgets, resources and management of NPI or improvement projects (technology/efficiency/quality) from initiation to production and program completion.
  • Facilitate development of manufacturing process solutions with functional teams, using tools such as process flows, PFMEA’s and control plans, promoting lean and quality focus.
  • Monitor and report on project health, including issue management to ensure People, Quality, Velocity and Cost targets are achieved.
  • Develop equipment specifications and installation requirements, ensuring the equipment is safe and meets manufacturing needs.
Education/Experience
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing processes, project management, manufacturing safety, and lean manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of building and construction equipment assembly, test or finish processes and production.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter is advantageous.
  • Experience leading quality concern resolution with tools such as 8D, 5‑why, fishbone diagrams, and other appropriate quality tools.
  • 6 Sigma project leadership experience.
  • Degree or equivalent experience desired.
