Position: Manual Machinist / Toolmaker
Location: Warwickshire
Salary: £19 - £20 per hour (DOE)
Job Overview
- Manufacture new press tools, jigs, and fixtures to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Maintain, repair, and refurbish existing tooling to ensure production efficiency and product quality.
- Operate manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders.
- Fit, assemble, and test tooling components to ensure correct operation in production conditions.
- Ensure tooling is produced and maintained to the highest quality standards within specified tolerances.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in accordance with company policies.
Job Requirements
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Toolmaking / Precision Engineering would be preferred.
- Proven experience in manual machining and toolroom environments.
- Strong knowledge of press tool construction, including blanking, forming, and progression tooling.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, gauges, verniers, etc.).
- Experience with fitting, assembly, and try‑out of tooling.
- Welding experience is advantageous (MIG, TIG, arc).
- Understanding of materials and heat treatment processes used in toolmaking.
Salary & Benefits
- Permanent position.
- Salary - £19 to £20 per hour (DOE).
- Monday to Friday – 39 hour week.
- 28 days holiday allowance including BH.
