Location

AIR Wakefield

Schedule

Day shift: Monday to Thursday 8am - 4:30pm, Friday 8am - 3:15pm.

Night shift: Monday to Thursday 6pm - 6am (25% night rate uplift).

Overview

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, the Manual Machinist will set up and operate conventional machine tools including Manual Milling Machines, Manual Lathes and Surface Grinders to manufacture components of various sizes and tolerances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working on manual milling machines, lathes and surface grinders
  • Produce component parts in tolerance of drawing specification
  • Keep a clean and manageable working area
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering relevant discipline (Desirable)
Key Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in operating manual milling machines
  • Proficient in operating manual lathes
  • Proficient in operating surface grinders
  • Familiar with a range of materials including tool steels
  • The ability to react well to changing priorities
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Working under pressure
  • The ability to use relevant inspection measuring equipment
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Produce component parts in tolerance of drawing specification
  • General awareness of health and safety issues
