Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Colchester Lathe Operator for a long-term PAYE contract in the aerospace manufacturing sector. Initial placement in Titchfield, Hampshire, with a relocation to a new Lee-on-the-Solent facility planned during a period of growth. You will set up and operate Colchester lathes from drawings, ensuring parts meet strict quality standards.

The role offers training, progression, and overtime opportunities in a precision engineering environment with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Colchester lathes in a manufacturing/engineering setting.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with micrometers, verniers and gauges for in-process inspections.

Colchester Lathe Operator

Location: Titchfield, Hampshire
(Please note: the business will soon relocate to a brand-new manufacturing facility in Lee-on-the-Solent, offering an exciting opportunity to join during a period of growth and investment.)

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Colchester Lathe Operator to join a growing aerospace manufacturing business on a long-term PAYE contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a precision engineering environment, producing high-quality components to exacting aerospace standards.
You will be responsible for setting and operating Colchester lathes, working from engineering drawings, and ensuring all work meets strict quality requirements.

First 12 Weeks

• Basic: £18.13 p/h (Accrued Holiday) | £20.77 p/h (Advanced Holiday)
• Overtime: £27.20 p/h (Accrued Holiday) | £31.15 p/h (Advanced Holiday)
• Sundays: £36.26 p/h (Accrued Holiday) | £41.54 p/h (Advanced Holiday)

After 12 Weeks

• Basic: £18.68 p/h (Accrued Holiday) | £21.40 p/h (Advanced Holiday)
• Overtime: £28.03 p/h (Accrued Holiday) | £32.10 p/h (Advanced Holiday)
• Sundays: £37.37 p/h (Accrued Holiday) | £42.80 p/h (Advanced Holiday)

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Colchester lathes safely and efficiently.
• Manufacture components to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Conduct in-process inspections using standard measuring equipment.
• Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
• Adhere to all health, safety and aerospace quality procedures.
• Support continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing team.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience operating Colchester lathes within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Eligibility

Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to comply with ITAR requirements.
