Job summary

Future Build Recruitment seeks a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of major UK infrastructure work packages from early design through delivery. Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (BSc/MSc or equivalent).
  • Experience as Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
  • Extensive experience with NEC contracts.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Leadership experience with mentoring commercial teams.
  • Chartered (MRICS) or working towards membership desirable.

Responsibilities

Managing Quantity Surveyor – Major Infrastructure Project

We are recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major UK infrastructure project. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key commercial leadership role from the early design phase through to project delivery on a long-term scheme.

The successful candidates will lead the commercial management of key work packages, oversee the commercial team, and ensure robust cost control, contract administration and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of major infrastructure work packages.
  • Administer and manage NEC contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Measure, record and value works in accordance with contractual procedures.
  • Prepare and review applications for payment, cost reporting and final accounts.
  • Manage project accounting systems, monitor project costs and produce cost vs. value reconciliations.
  • Review construction programmes and plan commercial activities to support project delivery.
  • Lead supplier procurement, subcontract management and commercial negotiations.
  • Ensure effective contract administration and value for money across the supply chain.
  • Identify, communicate and manage commercial risks and opportunities in collaboration with the project team.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and professional guidance to junior members of the commercial team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders and clients.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (BSc/MSc or equivalent).
  • Previous experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
  • Strong background working for a Tier 1 contractor or on major UK infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive experience administering NEC contracts.
  • Experience delivering projects within sectors such as Energy, Power, Nuclear, Transportation or Highways.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor commercial teams.
  • Chartered (MRICS) or working towards professional membership is desirable.
