Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor for their South West team. The position offers a salary between £55k and £65k plus benefits, requiring substantial experience in quantity surveying and management of civil engineering projects. You will handle tender preparations, budget control, and client liaisons. Ideal candidates will have at least 7 years of experience with significant time at the senior level in rail projects.

Managing Quantity Surveyor – Rail (South West)

Salary: £55k - £65k + pkg DOE
Location: South West England
Region: South West

A Regional Main Contractor is currently looking to expand their commercial team due to winning a bulk of work within the South Western Region. Projects range from £500k – £8m in value, on NR and NEC forms of contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior QS to take a step up to Management level, with a contractor who are progressive and ambitious with their work winning.

Candidate Profile:

  • 7 years post graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 2 years at Senior QS level
  • Experience working on various forms of contract including NR Bespoke and NEC
  • Previous experience working for a main contractor on civil engineering and rail projects
  • Be able to live, work and drive within the UK – ideally based in the South Western Region

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Tender preparation
  • Internal cost & value reconciliations
  • Budget control & forecasting
  • Direct client liaisons including resolution of any disputes that arise
  • Monitoring of subcontract procurement
  • Identifying & implementing new control systems
  • Ability to manage a commercial team
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
