Finlay Jude Associates are recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Client's Commercial Team with an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to support delivery across major water infrastructure projects.

This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working and the chance to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects, reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Manager.

You’ll lead the full commercial lifecycle from pre-construction through to final accounting while managing and developing a talented commercial team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial leadership across a portfolio of projects valued between £5m and £20m.
  • Take full responsibility for end-to-end commercial management, from pre-construction to final account.
  • Lead and develop a team of 3-5 Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors.
  • Manage contract administration under the IChemE contract, including variations, applications for payment, and early warning notices via CEMAR.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Drive margin improvement plans and ensure cash exposure is minimised at all times.
  • Take ownership of monthly reporting, including CVRs, client forecasting, cashflow, and WIP reporting.
  • Oversee the procurement process and ensure accurate forecast reporting with clear variance narratives.
  • Conduct site visits and complete Senior Manager Tours.
  • Lead negotiations of Works Order Contracts in line with company policy.
  • Support additional duties associated with commercial management of your project portfolio.
About You
Essential
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience managing and developing individuals or small teams.
  • Strong background in utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA sectors.
  • Demonstrable IChemE contract experience.
Desirable
  • Chartered member of RICS or CICES (or working towards).
