Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced and driven Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead a national commercial team and oversee the successful delivery of multiple infrastructure contracts across the UK. This pivotal role will provide strategic commercial leadership, ensuring consistent, accurate, and compliant commercial management across all projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a dispersed team of Quantity Surveyors, driving best practice and consistency nationwide.
  • Oversee the full commercial lifecycle of multiple contracts, ensuring robust cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice and support to project managers and directors.
  • Administer NEC contracts in line with client and company requirements.
  • Lead on valuations, change control, early warnings, and compensation events.
  • Support bid and tender processes with accurate commercial and contractual input.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal delivery teams.
  • Drive commercial efficiency, value for money, and continuous improvement across the function.
  • Contribute to wider business improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
About You
  • Proven experience managing multiple contracts under NEC forms of contract.
  • Background in civil engineering, highways, or infrastructure frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing dispersed commercial teams.
  • Excellent financial acumen, analytical capability, and commercial awareness.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK.
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional membership such as MRICS (or working towards) highly desirable
