Managing Legal Counsel – Civil Works Alliance

Role Overview
You will support the multi‑billion‑pound Civil Works Alliance, one of Sizewell C’s most critical delivery partnerships. The position is senior, line‑managed and reports to the Deputy General Counsel with a clear line to the General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership on all legal aspects of Sizewell C’s role and interest in the Civil Works Alliance.
- Governance and operations of the alliance, ensuring robust contractual, commercial and regulatory compliance across a multi‑party framework.
- Offer strategic and operational legal advice to alliance leadership, collaborating with Delivery, Commercial, Finance and Project Controls functions.
- Work closely with alliance partners and senior stakeholders to manage risk, negotiate agreements and draft key documents.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales) with significant post‑qualification experience in major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in construction and engineering law (NEC, FIDIC, or alliance models).
- Proven experience advising on large‑scale infrastructure or energy projects.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting and stakeholder management skills.
- Capability to deliver clear, practical and commercially sound legal advice in complex environments.
- Experience working within a collaborative or alliancing delivery model.
