Job summary

Allstate NI in the United Kingdom seeks a Managing Engineer to lead teams delivering data products, ETLs, Python automations, and dashboards.

You will set technical direction, contribute to architecture, own data quality and performance, and partner with TORC leaders and product managers to drive outcomes.

The role combines hands-on leadership with delivery ownership in a cloud-based, CI/CD environment, with a strong emphasis on risk, compliance, and measurable business value.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with hands-on Python and data product delivery.
• Minimum 2 years leading engineers with technical oversight (architecture, code reviews, delivery coaching).
• Experience building and operating scalable data pipelines, ETLs, and analytical/reporting systems.
• Experience deploying AI products.
• Strong experience with data modeling, APIs, backend integrations, and data quality practices.
• Knowledge of modern engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, automation).
• Experience delivering dashboards and translating complex data into actionable insights.

Your role in the team

Risk Engineering and Risk Insights collectively design, build, and operate data-driven and software-based risk and compliance solutions that integrate into the SDLC and enterprise platforms. The teams apply modern engineering practices to deliver scalable data pipelines, automation, dashboards, and embedded control capabilities that enable TORC (Technology Operations, Risk and Compliance) to understand risk, drive control‑led behaviors, and make timely, evidence‑based decisions. The Managing Engineer is a hands‑on engineering leader responsible for leading teams that build, deliver, and operate these products in production. This role blends strong technical leadership, people leadership, and delivery ownership, ensuring high-quality, reliable solutions with measurable business and engineering impact.

Essential Skills
