My client is an international leader in Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) services and is seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Managing Director to shape and drive the future of its UK business. Fully office based role in Fleet, Hants. No hybrid considered.

Operating at the intersection of life sciences, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and critical environment infrastructure, my client is a trusted partner to organisations that demand the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. Our expertise spans cleanroom and containment commissioning, validation and maintenance; biosafety cabinet servicing; microbiological and chemical testing; and end-to-end environmental monitoring solutions. The business currently turns over 6.5million with a headcount of 49.

The Opportunity

As Managing Director, you will have full strategic, operational and financial responsibility for the business. Your mandate will be to define and deliver a bold growth strategy, strengthen market leadership, and ensure the highest levels of operational and regulatory excellence.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of technical and commercial professionals, driving performance, expanding market share, and building long-term value for the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a clear, ambitious business plan aligned with my client’s objectives, setting measurable KPIs and delivering against them.
  • Operational Excellence: Structure and optimise the organisation to deliver consistently high standards in a dynamic, regulated environment.
  • Financial Stewardship: Take full P&L ownership, ensuring revenue growth, profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Commercial Growth: Expand key client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and shape market propositions to capitalise on growth potential.
  • Market Leadership: Oversee marketing and business development initiatives to position my client as the partner of choice in life sciences and controlled environment services.
  • Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Guarantee adherence to all relevant standards (e.g. ISO 9001, GMP, FDA) and champion a culture of continuous improvement.
  • People Leadership: Build and inspire high-performing teams, lead performance development and succession planning, and embed a culture of accountability and excellence.
Candidate Profile

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader with the gravitas to represent a high-value technical services business and the commercial acumen to deliver sustained growth.

  • Proven senior leadership experience (5+ years) in a laboratory, healthcare, TICC, or related technical services environment.
  • A track record of P&L ownership and delivering strategic and financial outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of regulated markets, quality systems, and accreditation frameworks.
  • Demonstrable success in building commercial teams, winning business, and growing revenue.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with credibility at board and client‑C‑suite level.
  • A structured, decisive and execution-focused leadership style, underpinned by analytical rigour and strategic vision.
  • Hands‑on leadership and a collaborative mindset, capable of inspiring and developing teams.
