What this job can offer you

Managing Counsel – Commercial Legal – a senior individual‑contributor role with no managerial responsibilities. As an independent senior lawyer you will support Remote’s Americas sales teams, with additional support for EMEA sales as needed, and help deliver pragmatic and innovative legal solutions while protecting Remote from unacceptable risk.

What you bring
  • Proven expertise in commercial transactions, especially enterprise‑level SaaS agreements, Terms of Service negotiations, and sales contract reviews.
  • Partnership and channel/reseller agreement experience.
  • Prior HR‑tech industry experience or familiarity with bespoke HR services agreements (beneficial, not required).
  • Excellent drafting skills to craft clear, enforceable agreements aligned with business objectives.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a creative, practical approach to complex commercial challenges.
  • Commercial instincts and strategic thinking, comfortable letting go of immaterial points to keep deals moving forward.
  • Experience with data protection agreements or knowledge of U.S. data protection laws.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, maintaining responsiveness and adaptability under pressure.
  • Capacity to work independently while collaborating effectively with sales and cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with sales stakeholders while exercising independent legal judgment.
  • A healthy dose of humor and humility.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary legal advisor to the Americas sales teams, providing timely and practical legal support on Terms of Service negotiation, contract redlining, and commercial agreement reviews.
  • Provide additional legal support to EMEA sales teams as needed.
  • Strategize, draft, and negotiate partnership and channel/reseller agreements to support growing partnership initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Finance, and other cross‑functional teams to align commercial agreements with business objectives while mitigating legal and operational risks.
  • Develop and improve templates, playbooks, processes, and other knowledge resources for commercial transactions and sales support.
  • Provide legal training and guidance to internal stakeholders, particularly sales teams.
  • Bring a solutions‑focused mindset to every negotiation, minimizing roadblocks and resolving issues without unnecessary escalation.

  • Location: Fully remote; preference for Americas time zones, EMEA as secondary.

Salary range: $100,000 – $190,000 USD, based on role, level, and location. Benefits include competitive health and wellness plans, generous paid time off, and equity opportunities. All compensation is reviewed for pay equity and fairness across all countries we operate in.
