The Managing Change Safely (MCS) Lead is responsible for overseeing the end‑to‑end MCS function, ensuring that safety risks arising from organisational, process, technology, asset or people changes are identified early, assessed consistently and governed effectively. You will be critical in safeguarding people, operations and infrastructure by ensuring safety is considered at every stage of change.

You will work with change domains such as Technology, IT & Cyber, Transformation, Engineering & Assets, Operations and People, ensuring risk management is compliant and acting as a strategic enabler for safe and sustainable change.

  • You will own and improve the MCS framework to embed safety into all change governance and decision‑making.
  • Leading governance forums including chairing the MCS Working Group, support the Responsible Person Forum, and prepare inputs for the MCS Committee.
  • Maintain MCS tools & processes and manage communications, acting as the key stakeholder engager across PMOs, projects and safety teams.
  • Assure quality and compliance by auditing register entries, validating ratings, and coordinating HSE submissions.
  • Provide training and guidance on MCS processes and obligations.
  • Report and analyse performance to drive continuous improvement.
What you will need
  • A Change Management certification (APMG, Prosci) or proven experience in change governance.
  • Proven experience in risk management within change environments, ideally with experience embedding governance and controls into complex programmes.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives, chair governance forums and influence key stakeholders across senior levels.
  • Experience with process improvement, regulatory obligations and audit processes, using data to drive decision making to progress cultural change and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable with digital tools (Microsoft 365 suite) and workflow automation (e.g. Power Automate) and use data to drive decision making.
  • A project/programme management certification (PRINCE2, MSP) is desirable and a Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH) is preferred but not essential.
