If you’re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Our Risk and Compliance function has a critical role to play in supporting, challenging and advising across all areas of the business through establishing policy, monitoring profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risk and compliance. We focus on creating an environment that encourages our people to speak up and do the right thing, as well as protecting our customers, the organisation and the integrity of the financial markets in which we operate. Already an industry‑leader in many respects, we want to continue setting standards and evolving to respond to strategic changes.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities including working towards any desired and relevant insurance qualifications, and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK‑based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will :
  • Combine financial crime subject matter expertise with data‑driven analytical approaches to analyse and articulate HSBC UK’s exposure to emerging and crystallised financial crime risk.
  • Produce analytic output that genuinely furthers the bank’s understanding of illicit methodologies and drives control enhancement or adaptation.
  • Articulate insights by producing high‑quality and timely written reports for a diverse set of audiences within the Bank.
  • Develop core skills and subject matter expertise on topics relevant to the role, including research, data analysis, critical thinking, written and verbal communication, and risk and control management.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the wider Compliance function and the Lines of Business.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements :
  • Previous experience working in an intelligence analysis role in the public or private sector, e.g. political risk or business intelligence, law enforcement, or similar.
  • Extensive experience in research and critical analysis of information, working with a range of sources to develop actionable insights.
  • Strong ability to identify emerging risks and trends from external data sources and translate them into actionable and relevant insights for stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Strong ability to draw conclusions and recommendations from information that is potentially partial or incomplete.
  • Excellent and demonstrable written skills with extensive experience in drafting reports, effectively communicating complex issues in clear and succinct language at a senior stakeholder level.
  • Knowledge in financial crime themes, such as sanctions evasion or money laundering, or macro themes that impact the financial crime landscape, such as geopolitics.
  • A proven track record of building relationships and proactively engaging with stakeholders across the organisation to gather information and influence outcomes.
  • Experience within data analysis: interpretation and transformation of data sets, delivering intelligence insights from raw data and producing effective and innovative data visualisations is Desirable.
  • Familiarity within financial institutions, how they operate, and their products and services is Desirable.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Edinburgh or Sheffield (Hybrid).
