Job summary

McDermott International, Ltd is looking for a Manager HSES to lead multiple teams, set priorities, allocate resources, and drive improvements across HSES policies and processes on complex energy projects.

The role requires extensive experience in HSES in the energy sector, NEBOSH, ISO lead auditing, and strong leadership in onshore and offshore environments. Travel and audits form part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in HSES related field and 10+ years HSE experience in energy.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001 or 45001).
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve the HSE management system per regulatory requirements and company policy.
• Support the development and management of HSES budgets, staffing requirements, and look-ahead schedules.
• Manage HSES compliance strategy, business continuity and contingency planning.
• Represent the consortium HSES before client for reporting or as required by project director.
• Ensure appropriate manning for HSES activities (onshore & offshore).
• Travel to project sites and cover for rotation staff on leave as required.
• Ensure HSES readiness before marine campaign.
• Schedule vessel visit during project execution and conduct inspections.
• Liaise with client HSES representatives and maintain good rapport.
• Oversee HSES effectiveness, strategies, and improvement programs.
• Ensure HSES personnel are performing as required.
• Lead or participate as SME in incident investigations and reporting.
• Handle HSE incidents, assess risk, and oversee corrective actions.
• Maintain statistics and metrics, determine performance trends, and prepare reports.
• Prepare HSES audit plans and conduct audits.
• Facilitate HAZIDs and other risk reviews.
• Monitor and evaluate subcontractors’ performance.
• Provide HSES input to MOC and Lessons Learned.
• Own and lead implementation, enforcement, and verification of McDermott policies and procedures.
• Ensure employees understand their responsibility to implement policies.
• Ensure timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams.
• Review and approve subcontractors and vendors for equipment and services.
• Ensure MEDEVAC interfaces with client, vessels, and onshore medical support are tested.
• Attend and provide input to forums such as kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, readiness reviews.

Job Overview

The Manager HSES manages multiple related teams, sets organizational priorities, allocates appropriate resources, and must apply an understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies for the HSES discipline as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the correct level of manning for HSES activities (onshore & offshore) is maintained.
• Travel to project sites and cover for rotation staff on leave as required.
• Ensure HSES readiness before marine campaign.
• Schedule vessel visit during project execution and conduct inspections.
• Liaise with client HSES representatives and ensure good rapport.

• Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures.
• Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures.
• Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams.
• Review and approve subcontractors and vendors for equipment and services.
• Ensure MEDEVAC interfaces with client, vessels, and onshore medical support are tested at periodic intervals and effective.
• Attend and provide input to forums such as kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, readiness reviews, etc.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in HSES related field, ten plus (10+) years of HSE experience within the Energy Industry.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Trained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001 or 45001).
• Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function.
• Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leader.
• Have wide experience with SURF (Subsea umblicals, risers & flowlines) fabrication & installation operations, including on and offshore marine operations.
• Maintain key competencies such as Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET), H2S Training, etc.
• Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
• Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Project.
