Job description
Role Overview

Companies increasingly see the successful global deployment and management of their workforce as an enabler to sustained and enhanced growth. As such, Deloitte’s Global Employer Services (GES) practice, which currently serves over 2,000 corporate clients across 130 global locations, has significant expansion plans and is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our multi‑disciplinary team and be at the forefront of assisting our clients to meet the challenges of global working and maximise the associated opportunities.

You will join a highly experienced, diverse, and welcoming team. You will have real career progression opportunity, and the chance to drive your own career with full support.

Connect to your opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Global Mobility team as a Manager. Our Managers play a key role in leading the delivery of our client services and developing our teams. As a Manager, you will use your commercial awareness and professional expertise, along with leveraging the skills and expertise of others, to deliver the best possible experience and outcomes for our clients and our people.

You will own and manage key elements of client relationships and, with an appropriate level of support, be expected to proactively identify innovative solutions for your clients and pursue new business development opportunities by utilising your networks and market knowledge.

You will be a confident team player and enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise with others, as well as continuing to build your own technical expertise or specialism. We take pride in working with everyone in the team to create broad mobility professionals who are well‑equipped to partner with our clients. You'll be empowered to manage your own workload and team to achieve career goals that you set yourself.

Responsibilities
  • Advising and guiding clients on the planning and implications involved in international work arrangements
  • Managing relationships on client engagements
  • Collaborating with senior team members to deliver high‑quality tax advice and services to clients
  • Getting involved in wider advisory projects and client meetings
  • Managing a portfolio of personal income tax returns– ensuring the tax returns move through the process from initial preparation to sign‑off. This includes overseeing support from and collaborating with colleagues in our compliance delivery centres.
  • The preparation of non‑standard tax returns and client deliverables, as well as reviewing work of junior members of the team
  • Conducting entry and exit consultations with mobile employees
  • Contributing to the development of junior team members through mentorship and guidance
  • Working with colleagues across service lines (e.g. Reward and Incentives, Shares, High Net Wealth, Social Security, Immigration, Corporate Tax etc.) to deliver broader Global Workforce and Talent Mobility projects to clients
  • Contributing to the growth of the practice through active involvement in ongoing market building activities
Skills and Experience

You will be:

  • Client focused and passionate about client relationships
  • Proactive in seeing work through to conclusion
  • Someone who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team
  • ATT qualified, or close to completion (support for CTA completion with Deloitte will be considered for candidates who wish to pursue further professional exams) or equivalent.
  • Inquisitive about exploring the impact of technology on both internal service delivery and client services

You will have:

  • A good understanding of key relevant tax legislation, including the Statutory Residence Test and operation of double tax treaties
  • Broad knowledge of typical UK employer compliance responsibilities
  • The ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships, both within internal teams and clients
  • Begun to work in a client advisory capacity beyond core compliance delivery
  • Experience of briefing clients/stakeholders on the implications of working internationally
  • Worked within a Professional Service environment or in‑house team either within an expatriate role or private client focus
  • Existing experience of working alongside and managing non‑UK based team members would be desirable
Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process or you can contact the Independence team upon request.

Our hybrid working policy

You’ll be based in London with hybrid working. At Deloitte we understand the importance of balancing your career alongside your home life. That’s why we’ll support you to work flexibly through our hybrid working policy. Depending on the requirements of your role, you’ll have the opportunity to work in your local office, virtual collaboration spaces, client sites and remotely. You’ll get the chance to meet face to face when needed, while you collaborate and learn from colleagues, share your experiences, and build the relationships that will fuel your career and prioritise your wellbeing.
