A leading financial advisory firm in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced VAT Consultant to provide advice on VAT-related issues and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in VAT advisory, be knowledgeable about VAT legislation, and possess excellent reporting and analytical skills. This role offers a chance to work closely with VAT Authorities and support tax compliance efforts.

  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT Returns.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the company on VAT-related issues and provide strategic solutions to mitigate VAT liabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT & Supplementary Duty Act 2012, including timely submission of VAT returns and other required documentation.
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT Returns (Mushak-9.1) both online and manually to VAT Authorities.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of VAT calculations and returns.
  • Attend hearings with VAT Authorities, including the DC Appellate, Appellate Tribunal, and ADR for the finalization of assessments.
  • Coordinate VAT audits with VAT Authorities, legal representatives, and internal teams.
  • Calculate VDS on bills/invoices and deposit the amounts to the Government exchequer through treasury challans.
  • Issue VAT TDS Certificates (Mushak-6.6) to vendors as required.
  • Maintain VAT-related books and records, including Mushak Forms 4.3, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, and 6.10.
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations, monitor VAT purchase and sales accounts, and ensure timely issuance of VAT invoices.
  • Facilitate VAT refund applications and coordinate with the VAT Division & VAT Commissioner's Office.
  • Ensure proper follow-up for refund claims.
  • Generate reports as necessary and prepare documentation for VAT audits and authority requests.
  • Monitor input-output VAT coefficients and ensure proper recording of input tax credits.
  • Maintain liaison and contact with VAT Authorities, Custom Authorities, and the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
  • Act as the key point of contact for all VAT-related matters.
  • Perform other VAT-related tasks assigned by management.
  • Support tax compliance and contribute to financial reporting as required.
