Job description

Job Description
Management Consultant,- Communications & Media
Career Level 9
Location London
As a team

We work with leading organisations in telecoms, TV and broadcast, gaming and betting, sport, business media and publishing. Their networks, services and content reach millions of people and businesses every day, and almost everything about how they operate is being rethought. Audiences now move freely between screens, services and devices. Customers expect digital experiences that simply work. AI is changing how products are built, how content is made and how businesses run. For the organisations we serve, this is a moment to reinvent rather than tweak. We help them work out what to build, and then we help them build it. Our work spans network and telecoms reinvention, customer experience, the way content is produced, managed and monetised, and the creation of new digital products and services. As a Consultant, you will sit where consulting meets product delivery. You will help clients get clear on the problem and their ambition, and then stay involved as that thinking becomes a product, platform or service that real customers use. You don't need to be an engineer, but you will enjoy working alongside engineers, designers and data specialists. You will get into the detail and make the practical trade-offs that turn a good idea into something that ships.

Challenges you could work on
  • Simplifying a telecoms operator's products and the systems behind them, so new services launch in weeks rather than years.
  • Redesigning how consumers and businesses buy, set up and get help with their broadband, mobile and connectivity services.
  • Modernising the platforms that bring programmes and live sport to audiences across apps, TVs and devices.
  • Using AI to speed up how content is tagged, edited, localised and discovered.
  • Creating new products, commercial models and revenue streams from content, audiences, advertising and intellectual property.
  • Helping a betting or gaming operator improve how its products are designed, built and released.
  • Changing the people, processes, technology and data behind a core part of a client's business, rather than simply replacing its systems.
In our team you will learn
  • How Communications and Media businesses really work, from network to content to customer, by working with leading organisations in the sector.
  • How to take an idea from discovery through to launch, drawing on Accenture's engineering, design, data and AI specialists.
  • How to apply AI and data to real problems, and how to tell a promising use case from a distraction.
In this role you will
  • Help clients turn business problems and customer needs into clear product visions, roadmaps and plans that teams can deliver.
  • Take responsibility for a defined product area or workstream, helping to move it from discovery and design through build, launch and improvement.
  • Work day to day with client and Accenture teams across product, engineering, design and data, helping them prioritise, resolve delivery challenges and make practical trade-offs.
  • Build business cases and success measures that link what gets built to the outcomes it should deliver, and use data to show whether it is working.
  • Find practical ways to use AI in products, customer experiences and operations.
  • Run interviews and workshops, present to clients, and help business and technology teams reach a shared view.
  • Contribute to proposals and new opportunities, and play an active part in the life of the team.

Job qualifications

We are looking for people who enjoy both shaping ideas and making them happen. You will be able to point to products, services or business capabilities that you have helped design, build, launch or transform.

With around four years' relevant experience, you may have built your career in consulting, a Communications or Media business, a digital agency, a product studio or a technology company. Your experience might include consulting, business analysis, product ownership or product management. We welcome different paths, and we don't expect you to bring everything below.

Product and delivery
  • You have helped design and deliver digital products, platforms or services, and contributed to a roadmap, backlog or workstream along the way.
  • You can turn strategy into clear priorities and requirements, and make sensible trade-offs between customer value, cost, speed and technical feasibility.
  • You can point to outcomes you helped deliver for customers, operations or revenue.
Technology and data
  • You understand how digital products are built and run, and can work confidently with engineering and technology leaders.
  • You know what AI, cloud and modern data platforms make possible, and can spot where they would add real value.
  • You use data to inform decisions, and can build a business case that stands up to senior scrutiny.
Industry knowledge
  • You have experience in, or a strong and growing understanding of, telecoms, media or both. Depth in one area, such as networks, broadcast, betting or publishing, matters more than breadth across all of them.
  • You have a point of view on how changing customer expectations, AI and new commercial models are reshaping these industries.
Working with clients and teams
  • You are comfortable leading workshops and client conversations, and can explain complex ideas simply.
  • You bring structure to ambiguous situations and work well in mixed teams, in both agile and more traditional delivery settings.
  • You support colleagues and want to grow your commercial skills by contributing to proposals.
Set yourself apart
  • Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or Delivery Lead, ideally taking a product from discovery to launch and beyond.
  • Experience working inside a major telecoms or media business, or consulting to one.
  • Practical experience identifying, shaping or delivering valuable uses of AI or automation within a product, customer journey or operation.
  • Familiarity with telecoms industry models such as TM Forum's eTOM and SID, or with content production and distribution workflows.
  • Experience helping an established organisation adopt product-led ways of working.
  • Relevant training or certifications in product management, agile delivery, cloud, data or AI, such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM, or certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
What's in it for you?

You will work on problems that reach millions of viewers, players, customers and businesses, at organisations going through some of the biggest changes in their history. You will build a rare combination of consulting, product and industry skills, working alongside strategy, engineering, data, AI and design specialists from across Accenture. You will also join a team that values clear thinking, collaboration and getting things done.
