Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Management Accounts Trainee to support the Finance Manager, Finance Analyst and Management Accountant in producing timely financial performance reports and ensuring income and expenditure are accurately recorded.

Work predominantly with Excel, Oracle, Power BI and ESR, engaging with staff across the Trust to provide financial information and contribute to budget preparation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English.
• Experience with financial reporting and budgeting processes.
• Proficiency with Excel, Oracle and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, timely financial performance reports to support decisions.
• Ensure income and expenditure are reported in statements to monthly timetables.
• Support staff changes and recruitment, ensuring actions are on time.
• Resolve invoice coding with the service and Financial Services teams.
• Carry out analysis with Power BI, pivot tables, graphs and tables.
• Advise finance staff, budget holders and external customers on finances.
• Assist with budget setting, validating staff in post and costing them.
• Engage with staff across the Trust at various levels.

Job description

Management accounts trainee in the Financial Management and Reporting team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the Finance Manager, Finance Analyst and Management Accountant. The work centres on producing timely financial performance reports, ensuring income and expenditure is accurately recorded in the Trust's statements, and supporting budget preparation. Over 80% of the time is spent on computer systems including Excel, Oracle, Power BI and ESR, with regular contact with staff across the Trust. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

What the job involves

• Produce accurate and timely financial performance reports from systems to support Trust financial decisions
• Ensure all relevant income and expenditure is accurately reported in the Trust's financial statements, to monthly timetables
• Support services with staff changes and recruitment, ensuring they are actioned, challenged and approved on time
• Help resolve invoice coding with the service and Financial Services team
• Carry out a programme of analysis for each service and keep it up to date, including Power BI reports, pivot tables, graphs and tables
• Give financial advice and assistance to finance staff, budget holders and external customers
• Assist with budget setting, particularly validating staff in post and costing them
• Engage with a variety of staff inside and outside the Trust at different levels

Qualifications

• At least 5 GCSEs at grade A* to C, including Mathematics and English
