Job summary

Cherry Professional Ltd is seeking a Management Accountant (Projects) to join their Nottinghamshire-based finance team. The role blends traditional management accounting with project finance exposure and business partnering.

You will work with senior finance leadership to deliver robust reporting, commercial insights and strategic financial support across the business.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, or outstanding qualified-by-experience with project and commercial accounting experience.
• Experience in Management Accounting, Project Accounting or Commercial Finance.
• Commercially minded with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with operational and non-finance stakeholders.
• Proactive, ambitious and keen to develop their career within a growing organisation.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and supporting commentary.
• Analyse project performance, profitability and margins.
• Prepare accruals, prepayments and month-end journals.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow processes.
• Monitor project costs, performance and financial outcomes.
• Provide commercial analysis and decision support to stakeholders.
• Assist year-end audit requirements.
• Drive process improvements and finance best-practice initiatives.
• Deliver meaningful insight to support strategic decisions.

This is far more than a traditional management accounting position. Alongside ownership of core financial reporting activities, you'll play a key role in analysing project performance, supporting operational decision-making and providing meaningful financial insight to stakeholders across the business.

The Role

Reporting into senior finance leadership, responsibilities will include:

• Production of monthly management accounts and supporting commentary
• Analysis of project and business performance, profitability and margins
• Preparation of accruals, prepayments and month‑end journals
• Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of strong financial controls
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow processes
• Monitoring project costs, performance and financial outcomes

About You

We are keen to speak with finance professionals who are:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or an outstanding qualified‑by‑experience finance professional with relevant project and commercial accounting experience
