A leading fire safety specialist group is seeking an experienced Inhouse Management Accountant for an 8-month fixed-term contract. This role, based in Exeter or Abingdon, involves supporting the finance manager with month-end reporting, financial analysis, and process improvements. Inhouse Management Accountant (Fixed Term Contract – up to £42,000)

Location: Exeter or Abingdon (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)

Contract: 8-month FTC (until June / July 2026)

We’re looking for an experienced Inhouse Management Accountant to join our Fire Safety division on an 8-month fixed-term contract, providing cover while one of our team takes a well-earned sabbatical to go travelling.

Working as part of a small, close-knit finance team (with support from a wider centralised group at Head Office), you’ll play a key role in supporting the Business Finance Manager to deliver accurate, timely and meaningful financial reporting.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Supporting with month-end reporting, including preparation and review of journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Partnering with operational stakeholders to help them understand financial performance.
  • Reviewing margins, costs and variances to ensure accuracy and control.
  • Assisting with forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Helping to drive process improvements and ensure data integrity.
What we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience in inhouse management accounting (or an experienced Assistant Accountant ready to step up).
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail – accuracy is key.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to quickly pick up new systems and processes.
  • Someone comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business.
