A prestigious educational institution is seeking a candidate for a fixed-term position within their Finance Team in Cambridge. The role involves financial planning, advising management, and ensuring adherence to university financial policies. Ideal candidates should have experience in budgeting and forecasting, with the ability to adapt to automated financial processes. A salary range of £35,608 to £46,049 per annum is offered, with potential for secondments from current university roles.
Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) has grown significantly in recent years, in terms of the number of staff, students, and educational programmes. The CJBS user community is diverse, demanding, and global. There are currently approximately 1,400 users, including teaching and research staff, administrative and support staff, students, visiting academics and participants in our Executive Education courses.
The Finance Team are a small but active function, responsible for managing all departmental financial processes and reporting activities. Led by the Finance Manager, the team oversees a broad portfolio of responsibilities, including financial operations and reporting, research grant management, purchasing, contract review, and the management of the Schools outsourced catering contract.
The Finance Team is operating within a wider University context undergoing significant transformation. The University has embarked on an ambitious programme of change across the Finance Community, including the introduction of Invoice Automation (SoftCo), the pilot of IND-E-Pay, and proposed revisions to the Chart of Accounts. As these systems continue to evolve and become more automated, the demand for traditional transactional finance roles is expected to diminish. The team is therefore focused on adapting to new processes, embracing innovation, and developing capability for a more strategic and value-adding financial service.
