Job description

RG Consultancy are working with an excellent Wakefield based company who are looking for a management accountant, either part qualified, qualified or someone qualified by experience. This is a full time, office-based role with more flexibility once settled into the company.

Job Purpose

The Management Accountant will support the Financial Director with a very hands-on transactional role. The role focuses on management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control within a manufacturing environment, ensuring financial accuracy and supporting operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Bank reconciliations, purchase ledger, sales ledger
  • Accruals, prepayments and journals
  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Analyse manufacturing costs, overhead absorption, and margin performance.
  • Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts in collaboration with departmental managers.
  • Monitor performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business planning.
  • Maintain and update standard costing models for manufactured products.
  • Monitor production efficiency, material usage, and labour variances
  • Analyse stock valuations, work-in-progress, and inventory adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight and decision support.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, capital investment appraisals, and performance improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar) desirable.
