RG Consultancy are working with an excellent Wakefield based company who are looking for a management accountant, either part qualified, qualified or someone qualified by experience. This is a full time, office-based role with more flexibility once settled into the company.
Job Purpose
The Management Accountant will support the Financial Director with a very hands-on transactional role. The role focuses on management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control within a manufacturing environment, ensuring financial accuracy and supporting operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Bank reconciliations, purchase ledger, sales ledger
- Accruals, prepayments and journals
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Analyse manufacturing costs, overhead absorption, and margin performance.
- Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts in collaboration with departmental managers.
- Monitor performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business planning.
- Maintain and update standard costing models for manufactured products.
- Monitor production efficiency, material usage, and labour variances
- Analyse stock valuations, work-in-progress, and inventory adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and statutory requirements.
- Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight and decision support.
- Contribute to strategic projects, capital investment appraisals, and performance improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment (essential).
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar) desirable.
