Job Overview

As Management Accountant reporting to the Financial Director, the candidate will assist in the preparation of consolidated management accounts, financial analysis and reporting for 33 entities.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance
  • Assist in the preparation of board and management reports
  • Assist in development of financial models to support strategic decision-making
  • All aspects of payroll
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and periodic re-forecasting
  • Monitor actual versus budget performance
  • Work closely with department heads to provide financial guidance and support cost control
Cost Control & Process Improvement
  • Conduct profitability and cost analysis to identify savings opportunities
  • Support process automation and efficiency improvements within the finance department
  • Assist in reviewing and improving internal controls and financial procedures
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Statutory filings with companies house, ensuring filing dates are met
  • Ensuring HMRC filings are filed in a timely manner
  • Ensure pension filings are filed in a timely manner
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
  • Studying towards a professional qualification, ideally finalist level (ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience in management accounting, within the housing sector an advantage
  • Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills
