About the Role

The Management Accountant reports to the Finance Manager and supports the London‑based accounting team headed by the Financial Controller. Its tactical responsibilities feed one larger objective: responsibility for the provision of finance and administration support to the London and Jersey Law Firms.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Month‑end reporting – Preparation of Management Accounts including posting of journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets etc.
• Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Overseeing supplier invoice process – coding/approvals
• VAT/GST return preparation
• ONS returns preparation
• Year end audit – support to provide core data, and pull together samples for auditors
• Corporation tax – assist in pulling together supporting analysis
• PSA preparation
• Client Account responsibilities in line with Solicitor Accounts Rules (SAR)
• Provide cover for billing during busy periods/annual leave
• Assist the Accounts Assistant as required with their work and in dealing with queries

Experience

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

• We are seeking a part qualified accountant or newly qualified accountant who is working towards/holds one of the following designations (CPA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA or ACCA)
• Previous experience in preparing Management Accounts is essential, including prepayments and accruals
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills are necessary, as is the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
• Good team working skills and experience in assisting team members is desirable
• Understanding of Solicitor Accounts Rules is desirable
