Job summary

Butler Rose are seeking an experienced Management Accountant for a 9-month maternity cover in Exeter, Devon. The role focuses on weekly management accounts, financial analysis, and maintaining strong controls to support operational performance during change.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience, with strong Excel and ERP skills, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Experience with Sage or Xero is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to handle high-volume transactional work.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly and monthly management accounts.
• Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support decisions.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain controls.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Collaborate with operational teams across the business.
• Assist with process improvements and driving efficiencies in finance.
• Support implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Management Accountant - 9 months Maternity Cover - Exeter - Devon

A thriving and fast-paced business in Exeter, Devon, is seeking an experienced Interim Management Accountant to cover maternity leave for 9 months and to support the finance function during a period of change and systems transformation.

This is a highly transactional environment where finance plays a key role in supporting operational performance. Unlike traditional month-end processes, the business operates a weekly reporting cycle, meaning financial information is maintained and reviewed continuously throughout the month, resulting in a more streamlined month-end close.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of weekly and monthly management accounts
• Financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making
• Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of strong financial controls
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
• Reviewing high volumes of financial transactions and ensuring accuracy
• Partnering with operational teams across the business
• Assisting with process improvements and driving efficiencies within finance
• Supporting the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Skills and attributes required

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience with significant management accounting experience
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-volume transactional environment
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting skills
• Able to work independently and hit the ground running
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be highly advantageous
• Experience using Sage and/or Xero would be beneficial
