Management Accountant

Remote - must be based in Scotland for occasional meetings

Are you a hands‑on accountant who thrives on variety and ownership? Iconic Resourcing are delighted to be exclusively retained by NCTech in their search for a Management Accountant to take the lead on their financial operations across UK and US entities. This isn't a routine ledger‑posting role - you'll be the go‑to person for everything from management accounts and payroll to compliance and process improvement.

NCTech is a Scottish headquartered imagery and geospatial technology business specialising in advanced street‑view technology, similar to Google Street View but with enhanced capabilities like layering analytics and GIS tracking for precise measurements.

Working remotely, you'll partner closely with the CFO, reporting directly to a new Finance Manager, also being recruited by Iconic at this time, and support the Finance Assistant, ensuring financial accuracy while driving efficiency across the department.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
  • Own the month‑end close process, delivering accurate management accounts with insightful commentary
  • Conduct comprehensive P&L and Balance Sheet reviews across our Xero systems
  • Supervise transactional accounting and mentor the Finance Assistant
Payroll & People
  • Manage UK payroll operations, liaising with our outsourced provider Azets
  • Provide US payroll support and contractor oversight
  • Be the first port of call for employee payroll queries
Compliance & Tax
  • Handle UK VAT returns and US sales tax filings
  • Coordinate year‑end audit requirements
  • Manage R&D tax credit reviews with our technical team
Strategic Input
  • Administer grant claims and business surveys
  • Manage patent renewals and cash flow forecasting
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting
Previous Experience
  • Qualified or QBE accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong management accounting and month‑end experience
  • Solid grasp of UK payroll and VAT - US sales tax knowledge would be a big advantage
  • Experience with cloud accounting systems (Xero ideal)
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • A proactive, problem‑solving mindset
  • Strong communication skills for dealing with advisors and stakeholders
  • R&D tax credit or grant administration experience
