Job summary

A regional support service in Liverpool is looking for a male Support Worker to provide vital assistance to Deaf and Deaf-Blind adults. You will support clients in their homes and communities, promoting independence and ensuring their everyday needs are met. Ideal candidates will have British Sign Language skills and a compassionate nature. The role offers training opportunities and a generous leave policy.

Qualifications

Overview

Are you passionate about making a difference? Merseyside Society for Deaf People is looking for a male Support Worker to join our friendly team, where you will provide vital support to Deaf and Deaf-Blind adults living in Liverpool, Wirral and Sefton. You will deliver a person-centred service that helps make everyday life easier for our clients, supporting them in their homes and communities. If you are dedicated, compassionate, and excited about this rewarding role, we'd love to receive an application from you!

Applicants must know British Sign Language and must be willing to undertake training in Deaf Blind communication. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates; in particular, we encourage applications from male candidates with relevant experience or backgrounds to work with our Deaf Blind male clients.

Responsibilities
  • Support clients to live independently in the community
  • Support clients with their individual needs as per their support plans
  • Support clients with shopping
  • Assist clients with accessing services and activities
  • Assist clients with translation of letters and telephone calls
Essential Criteria
  • Experienced in, or willingness to undertake training in Deafblind communication skills
  • Ability to guide Deafblind clients
  • Cheerful and patient attitude to work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • British Sign Language skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding
  • Driver with access to a car, which is insured for business use
