Job summary

A respected social care organization in Chelmsford is seeking a compassionate individual to provide support to a person with Huntington's disease. The role involves helping with appointments, social activities, and fostering independence. Flexibility and a genuine interest in supporting individuals with disabilities are essential. The position requires a commitment of 4 hours on Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm.

About the Employer

I was diagnosed with Huntington's disease in 2023, I have had to stop work but still like to be as independent as possible. I struggle with my speech and making my self clear at times. I enjoy going out and would like someone to support me in doing that.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
  • Develop a good and trusting one-to-one working relationship.
  • Need help to read as I am also dyslexic, I am not always steady on my feet so you will need to be aware of this and potential tripping hazards, etc.

The individual's needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and/or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Transport Requirement

Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.

When you are Required

Hours per week: 4 hours one day a week

Hours: Wednesday, 10am-2pm
